The Best Wedding Venues on Oahu: A Guide for Couples Planning a Hawaii Wedding

If you've started researching wedding venues on Oahu, you already know how many options there are. From beachfront resorts to historic downtown buildings to sprawling private ranches on the North Shore, this island has something for every couple and every vision. As a Hawaii wedding photography and videography team, we've had the privilege of documenting weddings at some of Oahu's most beautiful venues. Here's our honest take on the ones that stand out.

Sunset Ranch Hawaii — North Shore Oahu

If you want something that feels completely removed from the typical Hawaii wedding experience, Sunset Ranch is in a category of its own. Perched on 30 private acres in the hills of Pupukea on the North Shore, the ranch offers panoramic views of the Pacific, lush botanical gardens, a rustic barn, and six distinct event spaces that can be mixed and matched to suit your vision. The golden light up there at the end of the day is unlike anything else on the island, and the privacy means your entire celebration feels entirely your own. This venue is ideal for couples who want a destination wedding feel without leaving Oahu.

Best for: couples who want a private estate, dramatic views, rustic-meets-elegant aesthetic, and full-day flexibility.

Paliku Gardens at Kualoa Ranch — Windward Oahu

Kualoa Ranch is one of the most iconic properties in all of Hawaii, and Paliku Gardens is its most intimate ceremony setting. Tucked into the base of the Ko'olau Mountains on Oahu's windward coast, the garden is framed by towering green cliffs on every side and feels completely secluded despite being just 30 minutes from Honolulu. If you've ever watched a film shot in Hawaii, there's a good chance it was filmed at Kualoa. Getting married here is the kind of experience couples and guests talk about for years.

Best for: couples who want dramatic natural scenery, a lush valley setting, and a venue with serious wow factor.

Lanikuhonua — Ko Olina, West Oahu

Lanikuhonua translates to "where heaven meets earth" in Hawaiian, and the name earns it. Located within the Ko Olina resort area on Oahu's west shore, this historic oceanfront property was once the vacation estate of a Hawaiian royal chief. The grounds blend lush tropical gardens with sweeping ocean views and a deep sense of place that you don't find at most hotel venues. It's elegant, private, and genuinely beautiful in a way that feels rooted in the land rather than built for tourism.

Best for: couples who want oceanfront beauty, Hawaiian history, and a venue that feels both luxurious and authentic.

Ko'olau Ballrooms — Kaneohe, Windward Oahu

Ko'olau Ballrooms sits at the base of the Ko'olau Mountain Range in Kaneohe on Oahu's windward side, and the setting is genuinely hard to overstate. Dramatic 2,000-foot peaks rise up on every side, the light moves across those ridges in a way that changes by the hour, and the venue itself is designed to make the most of every bit of it: floor-to-ceiling glass walls, an indoor waterfall ceremony site under a tropical atrium, and outdoor ceremony spaces with unobstructed mountain views as far as you can see. The Glass Ballroom seats up to 250 for an intimate reception, while the Grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 750 for larger celebrations. It's one of the few venues on Oahu where you can hold your ceremony, portraits, and reception all in one place without sacrificing a single backdrop.

Best for: couples who want dramatic mountain scenery, indoor-outdoor flexibility, and a windward Oahu setting that feels a world away from Waikiki.

Wai Kai — Ewa Beach, West Oahu

Wai Kai is one of Oahu's newer destination event venues, and it's quickly become one of the most sought-after. Located on the lagoon in Ewa Beach, the property features stunning waterfront views, modern event spaces, and a setting that works equally well for intimate ceremonies and large celebrations. The indoor chapel space with its soaring white arched windows and natural light creates some of the most striking ceremony photos we've captured anywhere on the island.

Best for: couples who want a modern waterfront venue with a beautiful indoor ceremony option and easy access from west Oahu and Ko Olina.

Kapolei Golf Club — West Oahu

For couples on the west side of the island, Kapolei Golf Club is a hidden gem. Set across nearly 200 acres of lush fairways and sparkling water features on a former sugar plantation, the club offers beautiful outdoor ceremony spaces and a full reception facility with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the course views perfectly. It's one of the more affordable full-service venues on Oahu and consistently delivers a beautiful result.

Best for: west Oahu couples who want lush grounds, tropical scenery, indoor-outdoor flexibility, and real value.

A Note on Choosing the Right Venue for You

Every couple we work with has a different vision for their wedding day, and the right venue is the one that matches yours. Before you book, think about your guest count, the time of year, how much you want the setting to do the visual heavy lifting, and whether you're prioritizing outdoor views or indoor elegance. We've shot weddings at all of the venues above and would be happy to share more about any of them from a photography and video perspective.
